WHY JOURNALISM IS IMPORTANT
PHOTOJOURNALISM students learn the basics of camera usage, primarily DSLRs, while learning to tell a story through photography. They shoot a variety of photo assignments, gather caption information, edit using Lightroom and meet deadlines. Some after-school time will be required to cover activities that take place outside of the school day, such as sporting events. Success in the course is dependent upon the photographer's ability to produce quality work in a limited amount of time. While this course focuses on action or candid photography, students also learn to produce architectural, commercial, and street photography.
Students interested in registering for the journalism classes should have a background or interest in at least one of the following: Photography, Writing, Design, Video, Desktop Publishing.
